The UK's First Formalised Trust-Led Human Connection Infrastructure for Prevention™
To our knowledge, Jollof Nights™ is the first UK-based model to formalise trust itself as scalable prevention infrastructure, creating trusted spaces where health, education and social change can move earlier, deeper and more effectively.
Prevention begins before services. Long before people enter systems, they enter relationships. Jollof Nights™ was intentionally designed and launched by Jesse D Barber inside Headlinerz Barbershop in 2018 to prove that trust itself could become a repeatable prevention asset.
That infrastructure now operates across barbershops, universities and community spaces. The setting changes. The trust pathway remains.
Trust is only infrastructure if it has already been tested, repeated and proven.

Jollof Nights™ is not theoretical. It is live, measured, repeated and now ready to scale.
Institutional
Built for Commissioners. Designed for Communities.
Jollof Nights™ gives institutions a trusted route into communities they often struggle to reach early.
Instead of building new engagement systems, commissioners can plug into existing trust infrastructure.
Jollof Nights Connect™ is currently in active development.
We are building a Trust-Led Human Connection Infrastructure For Prevention™ alongside community, NHS, academic and local authority partners.
Our aim is to make it easier for trusted community spaces, facilitators, health services and local organisations to work together, reduce duplication and support earlier engagement with prevention, wellbeing and support.
Jollof Nights™ is the physical and human infrastructure — the trusted operating system where prevention begins. Jollof Nights Connect™ is the digital infrastructure that powers the ecosystem: the intelligence, continuity, scaling and coordination layer.
Built once. Deployable anywhere trust already exists.

01
01 · People2018–2021
Understanding people.
Headlinerz Barbershop launches with one mission: ‘Bringing Back The Community.’ One-to-one conversations, Mental Health First Aid, listening and signposting surface repeating patterns — isolation, stress, loneliness, relationship pressure, poor wellbeing.
02
02 · Spaces2018–2021
Creating trusted spaces.
The barbershop becomes more than a place for haircuts. It becomes a trusted community space — a place where conversations happen naturally and where trust begins to accumulate.
03
03 · Connection2021
Connection.
Thursday Night Jollof launches. No app. No funding. No formal structure. Just people, food, conversation and trust. Men begin connecting with one another, not only with a facilitator.
04
04 · Trust2021–2025
Trust accumulation.
People keep returning. Trust deepens. One barbershop becomes many — joined by community spaces, universities and partners. The model spreads because trust spreads.
05
05 · Prevention2025–2026
Prevention enabled by trust.
Because trust exists, earlier conversations become possible: mental health, blood pressure, men’s health, prostate health, respiratory health, research participation, family wellbeing and earlier help-seeking.

A Trust-Led Human Connection Infrastructure For Prevention™.
Jollof Nights Connect™ emerges as the digital layer. The goal is no longer simply hosting sessions — it is strengthening, preserving and scaling trusted human connection.
The culmination
The timeline reflects the evolution of the idea, not the growth of an organisation. Each stage made the next one possible.
The Jollof Nights™ Trust Accumulation Model
How trust accumulates into prevention
Each layer rests on the one before it. Trust compounds — and prevention becomes possible only after enough of it has been built.

To our knowledge, Jollof Nights™ is the first UK-based model to formalise trust itself as prevention infrastructure.
Not as an idea. Not as outreach. Not as engagement. But as a deliberate, copyrighted, repeatable operating system through which care can travel.
Trust, in person
We don't broadcast information. We strengthen the human relationships that make prevention possible.
Belonging as a health asset
Cultural belonging is not background context. It is the mechanism that makes engagement with prevention possible.
Relationship infrastructure
Single events fade. Trusted relationships compound — and compound into earlier action.
Featured community research
Equal Breath Lung Health Survey
The Equal Breath survey is helping surface lung health inequalities affecting Black communities across the UK. Activated through trusted community spaces and conversations, the survey helps ensure lived experiences shape future respiratory health research, prevention and health priorities. Participation is voluntary, confidential and community-led.
Survey open until 15 June 2026
Complete the survey and unlock a £10 participation support voucher.
One optional trusted conversation pathway running inside Jollof Nights™. Move at your own pace, build health confidence step by step, and unlock participation support along the way.

The trusted spaces where prevention actually begins
Prevention begins before services. It begins in the relationships people already have — inside the everyday spaces where they already feel known.
